Ingredients:

  • 500g of fresh river fish (such as tilapia or catfish)
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Mixing bowl

Instructions:

  • Start by cleaning the river fish thoroughly and patting it dry with paper towels.
  • In a mixing bowl, marinate the fish with turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
  • Heat coconut oil in a frying pan over medium heat and add mustard seeds. Wait until they start to pop.
  • Add finely chopped onion, minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies to the pan. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  • Gently place the marinated fish in the pan and fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until the fish is cooked through and has a golden brown color.
  • Once cooked, squeeze fresh lime juice over the fish and garnish with fresh coriander before serving.
